As a singer/songwriter, I have had many experiences I can take with me to each new level of success. I've released an original song, "Someone Like You" on iTunes, played the legendary 'Blue Bird Cafe' in Nashville, TN, and am proud to say that I'm on vacation 365 days a year---because I do what I love for a living.
Music is more than just a way of life for me. It calms my mind and sets me at ease. It's my way of connecting with people. I love playing for the crowd, and seeing how the music I play connects with them.
I'm very proud of the success I have had so far, and I look forward to pushing myself towards bigger things. It's been a long journey, but it's far from over. So come on out and join me for a evening of live music.

Carey has been a mainstay Charlotte performer for years and has fronted some of Charlotte's well known bands over that time frame. Now fronting the ever versatile Skate Rink Jukebox, he still finds the time to do his solo gigs and write his own music.
Soul is an intangible, hard to grasp quality that many singers and musicians talk about, but few possess, and even fewer deliver. Carey Sims has got it, hands down. Hailed by ELEVATE magazine as "hands down one of the premier vocalists in the Southeast", Sims is a singer's singer capable of all the nuance necessary to unearth a vast musical and lyrical landscape. Simply stated, he can flat out sell a song. And he's a damn fine songwriter to boot.
His voice has been used for numerous radio jingles and TV commercials and he has had his original songs placed in movies, advertisements, and most recently a Sims penned track opened the 2008 CMT music awards.
He has a soulful sound and melodic voice that most singers wish for. He can mix it up and is a great fit for ANY type of event, restaurant or social event. He can also come as a Duo or Trio.

These days the hard-working Chris Cook performs anywhere and everywhere, averaging 200 dates a year with and without a band. He’s particularly proud of his unaccompanied sets. “I’ve got a strong solo act,” he says. “I play acoustic guitar, stomp a tambourine with my foot, blow harmonica and sing. It keeps me working!”
“Small Town Gone” deserves to establish Chris Cook as a remarkable vocalist and guitarist who takes a fresh approach to homespun sounds. Insofar as the pesky matter of genre is concerned, ‘I think I have no choice to but call “Small Town Gone” a country record,” Cook concedes with a laugh. “That’s where it’s going on the shelf. Still, I feel the record is as much Americana as it is country. To me, it’s kind of a mixture of country, folk and blues. It’s roots music.”
His private parties and solo gigs in restaurants and bars come with an eclectic mix of covers from legendary artists in the genre of Americana, Classic Rock, Country and Blues that any music lover would love to hear. Don’t miss the opportunity to have Chris Cook come play for your next event!

Playing guitar since the age of 14, learning from a variety of guitar-based bands. The Beatles, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Simon & Garfunkel, America, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Phil Keaggy, and Jack Johnson are just a few of the many artists who influenced my playing style. Since then, he has found a niche in the Charlotte musical entertainment market by playing his favorite songs - a list which has become very extensive and eclectic in range. So many times he will hear the comment, “Wow…you have all my favorite songs on this list!” He loves keeping the spirit of these songs fresh and alive, and something always happens whenever he connects with people who are listening.
It becomes an experience…
At each of his engagements, it's his desire to create the kind of atmosphere that best suits the particular setting and crowd. He can provide any ambiance, from a quiet dinner mood to a lively, danceable party. Very often this can progress from one to the other in the course of an evening.
Although a solo performer, he incorporates the use of a drum machine, which, along with his acoustic guitar, he connects to a looping machine which records whatever he is playing at the time and plays it back as a "loop". This layering process enables him to build a rhythm background complete with drums, over which he can play alternate guitar parts, lead, solos, etc., giving me more of 1 man band feel! He and his guests have a lot of fun with it!
He's great for any type of functions, including private parties, business luncheons, cocktail hours, wedding rehearsal/receptions, pool parties, outdoor barbecues, holiday events, etc.
