Being born to greatness doesn’t guarantee that greatness will be passed on, but in this case it’s undeniable. Born the daughter of legendary soul singer, songwriter, actor and music producer Isaac Hayes, Heather Hayes has greatness flowing systemically through her veins.
While under the tutelage of her father and music greats like the “Godfather Of Soul”, James Brown, Heather honed her skills as an entertainer with the unique ability to leave audiences breathless and wanting more. Her live performances and vocals have been compared to Aretha Franklin, Regina Bell, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson. Heather's musical experiences don't end there, she's worked as a singer for artists such as Beyonce Knowles and Arrested Development, danced for Michael Jackson, Sean P. Diddy Combs and Brian McKnight and danced and choreographed stage shows for James Brown.
In the spring of 2004 Heather formed The Heather Hayes Band with four of Atlanta’s most seasoned musicians. The guys have many impressive credits of their own and have recorded and toured with artists like Madonna, Cameo, Bobby Brown, George Clinton, India Arie and Whitney Houston extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Billy Scott & The Prophets are well known for such beach music classics as "I Got The Fever", "California", "Beach Trip", "Roll Around Rockin'", "Rockin' Good Way", and the smash #1 hit song for 20 weeks on The Rhythm 'N Beach Top 40 Chart, "My Kind Of Girl", to name a few.
Billy Scott & The Prophets have been a main staple on the southeastern private party, festival, concert, corporate functions, night club and wedding circuit for over thirty years. In 1997 they opened for The Temptations at Blockbuster Pavilion in Charlotte, NC to a sold out crowd of 17,000. This award winning 7-piece dance and show group plays a wide variety of music including beach, blues, Motown, retro, funk and oldies, and are in constant demand.
Billy Scott has been inducted in the Beach Music Hall Of Fame, The North Carolina Music Hall Of Fame, and has a room full of Cammy Awards to his credit. Calvin Taylor was born and raised in Sumter, SC. Joined the Original Drifters in SC in 1979. The Drifters played with BB King, Maurice Williams, Junior Walker and opened for national artists like Joe Cocker, B. B. King, Eddie Right and many more. Calvin also worked with former lead singer of the Temptations, Dennis Edwards.
The Calvin Taylor Trio has performed around the east coast for several years, wowing audiences from young to old. Calvin's great voice and personality, combined with the accomplished musicianship of his bandmates, provide an entertaining twist to any event.

Coppertones, The
The Coppertones, a six-piece dynamo based in Charleston SC burst on to the local scene in August of 2004. Born of a need for great party entertainment within the means of everyone, and a desire to recapture classic R&B and Carolina Beach music the way it was meant to be; performed live, with four-part harmony as the star of the show. A desire to bring great party entertainment to their clients without a gang of technicians, stacks of equipment, ear-piercing volumes or excessive costs.
In February of 2006, they completed their first studio project highlighted by original compositions, Party Down the Street and Eat Mo' Grits. These songs maintain the classic Beach beat that shaggers love so well. The Doug Burns Band has been the South’s most versatile band for over ten years. Playing everything from Big Band, Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jazz to Beach, Motown, Disco and lots of other styles! The third week of September, 1978, was marked the beginning of an era, the formation of THE FANTASTIC SHAKERS, known as the "South's Finest Show Band." Since the inception of the band, the have performed over 6,000 engagements including over 400 wedding receptions, 700 conventions, and clubs too numerous to mention. They have performed from New York to Florida and all throughout the Southeast. South Carolina's Grand Strand has become the band's summer home and their hit single "Myrtle Beach Days" catapulted The Shakers to the top of the Carolinas musical groups.
This combination of experience and longevity has allowed THE FANTASTIC SHAKERS to possess a level of versatility few other groups can match. With five lead vocalists and up to three horns, they can perform almost any style of music from up-tempo dance and rock to the smooth easy listening for the more subdued occasions. The music is GREAT but what sets THE FANTASTIC SHAKERS apart is the personality of the group. From start to finish every performance becomes a PARTY! The fun starts at the first note and doesn’t stop until the last. A performance by THE FANTASTIC SHAKERS is not just a party, it is an EVENT!
Through these years, there have been many memorable engagements, including featured performances at the Grand National Dance Championships in Atlanta, GA on three occasions, the Lincoln Center in New York City (Hot Summer Nights Dance Fest), and the American Bop Association Convention in Cincinnati, OH on two occasions. This exhibits their appeal outside the Carolinas. Also, there have been performances with many national artists including the Beach Boys (for WBT Radio’s 50th anniversary), the Kingsport, TN Funfest with KC and the Sunshine Band and appearances also with the Four Tops, Jan and Dean and many more. WBTV was proud to host Spring Fest with The Shakers three different years with over 70,000 people in attendance. Forty thousand fans have attended the Carolina Beach Blast in Carolina Beach Festival with THE FANTASTIC SHAKERS as headliners. The Shakers were host to the grand opening of the Men's Apparel Mart in Charlotte with Vice President George Bush as special guest. There have been many other special appearances such as the gubernatorial inauguration with SC Governor Carroll Campbell. The list goes on and on...
The Shakers have won many awards through the various beach music awards associations through the years. This list includes two-time show group of the year, three time album of the year, and lead singer Bo Schronce has been named male vocalist of the year on four different occasions as well as induction into the Hall of Fame.
This Shakers' carry a state of the art JBL P.A. that is powered by over 16,000 watts of QSC amplifiers. The lighting system features 16,000 watts of power controlled by NEL multiplex controllers. An ultraquartz spotlight is used to highlight the floorshow. This flexibility allows them to accommodate any size event from a small reception to a large outdoor event.
So, you say "what makes The Shakers different?" Personality! Fun! Charisma! From start to finish, an engagement with THE FANTASTIC SHAKERS is one big party. General Johnson & The Chairmen of the Board

My career has been a long exciting journey with all roads leading to the musical oasis called Beach Music. In the spring of 1966 in Raleigh, North Carolina, as lead singer of the Showmen, I performed before my first Beach Music audience. Thinking Beach Music was music by artist like The Beach Boys and Jan and Dean, we nervously performed a variety of rhythm and blues classics. Surprisingly, each song was met with the audience's approval. As we ended the show with our regional hit "39-21-46" and our nationally charted hit song, "It Will Stand," the audience responded by applauding us back for an encore. Because we didn't know any other songs to perform, we sang two more verses of "It Will Stand" and spontaneously, began to adlib the chorus of Bruce Channel's song "Hey Baby." As we sang "Hey Baby," we waved our hands in the air and to our surprise, everyone in the audience responded by doing the same. When we concluded the show with a bow, the audience showed their appreciation by rewarding us with another thunderous round of applause. That spring night, I understood, appreciated and became a part of the Beach Music phenomenon.
In 1968, 1 moved to Detroit, Michigan to further my career with Invictus Records. As a member of The Chairmen of the Board, I experienced and enjoyed international success as a songwriter and an artist. My success in such a short period of time magnified the business dealings with my recording and management companies. Soon, business disagreements deteriorated our musical relationship and eventually terminated our successful venture. In 1974, I left Invictus.
In 1978, 1 returned to the Carolina's with The Chairmen of the Board. For the first time in eight years, I enjoyed performing music without the depression of the music business. I found an independent music industry that was still free of monopoly, politics and categorization. I felt the energy of an industry propelled by its loyal supporters.
I'd like to sincerely thank all Beach Music lovers and supporters for affording me the opportunity to create and perform, without compromise, the music that we treasure. I am humbly appreciative and honored to be a part of the Carolina Beach Music phenomenon.

Great Imponderables, The
The band officially came together and was formed in 2005. With the exception of Nathan, all were former members of other bands through previous years.
"Not often do you get people that truly want to play with each other," said one of the members. "Most musicians enjoy doing their own thing and expect the rest to follow. That's not what makes for a great band." For the first time in decades, Rick noticed a special mix of talent.
The age difference has allowed the group to come up with a mix unlike so many other bands. From Elvis to Incubus, Otis to Green Day, The Temptations to Lenny Kravitz, Rod Stewart to Jack Johnson. You name it. This group has it all.
Through their combined experience of playing in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee, these guys play from funk to swing and everything in between. Beach music and classic rock included.
Why such a wide diversity? Well, age difference did play some part. However, Mike and Payton are professional dancers. In competition and appearing in movies, dance is what motivated these guys. Rick was an old southern rocker that married a disco lady. There was no choice for them to play anything but dance music.

The Plaids
70's, Retro 80’s, 90's and then some!
We're not going to tell you about The Plaids. We're just not going to tell you all that boring bio stuff, such as "The Plaids have been rockin' the Carolinas and beyond for over three years now," and how members of this band have played in or with most of the great regional party bands, such as Absolute 80's, the Breakfast Club, McFly, Ultraviolet, The Vagabond Saints' Society, blah, blah, blah.
So what do you need to know about The Plaids? Well, many say that they throw the most rocking parties around. Many shake their heads in wonder and say, "How do they do that?" Others shake their heads in wonder and say "WHY do they do that?" Lots of cheesy 80's? You got it! Do they bring the 80's Rock? You betcha! But what about Neil Diamond? We're not going to tell you about The Plaids. We're just not going to tell you all that boring bio stuff, such as "The Plaids have been rockin' the Carolinas and beyond for over three years now," and how members of this band have played in or with most of the great regional party bands, such as Absolute 80's, the Breakfast Club, McFly, Ultraviolet, The Vagabond Saints' Society, blah, blah, blah.
So what do you need to know about The Plaids? Well, many say that they throw the most rocking parties around. Many shake their heads in wonder and say, "How do they do that?" Others shake their heads in wonder and say "WHY do they do that?" Lots of cheesy 80's? You got it! Do they bring the 80's Rock? You betcha! But what about Neil Diamond? Are they afraid to fire up a fog machine and sing like girls? Check, no way, and they prefer it like that.

The Tams
To hear it, you might think you just stepped into Motown. To breathe it, you smell a tropical breeze. To feel it, you let the rhythm grasp your body and whirl it into motion. To see it, is like an extravaganza of light and energy. But to experience it, you must say it …. “I want THE TAMS”!!
The Tams were formed in Atlanta, GA in 1962. It’s members were Joseph Pope and Charles Pope (founders), Horace Key, Floyd Ashton, and Robert Lee Smith. In the beginning, they sang and danced as a way of having fun and to escape their circumstances, hoping to make at least a little money. The group began performing in local night spots for $1.25 each. These small wages only allowed for them to purchase matching Tam O’shanter hats to wear while on stage. From this trademark, the legendary Tams name was born. The Tams hard work, patience and perseverance eventually paid off when they were signed to Arlan records and had their first Billboard hit in 1962, the single “Untie Me”, which was number 12 on the R&B chart. In 1963, ABC Records signed them and their first album produced a Top Ten hit, “What Kind of Fool”. They began playing throughout the country and a string of hits followed. These included “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy”, “I’ve Been Hurt” and “Hey Girl”. Since then, they have released over 15 albums and been honored with one Platinum and two Gold records. They have toured and recorded with Jimmy Buffet and performed with such greats as Gladys Knight, Jackie Wilson and many more. They have received the title “Beach Band of the Decade” and have been inducted into the Georgia Hall of Fame, the Atlanta Hall of Fame and the Beach Music Hall of Fame. The Tams are still recording today and have recently released their latest singles “My Main Squeeze” and “This Love Will Last” from their newest CD The Tams Comin’ At Cha’.
The current members include Charles Pope, his son Li’l Redd, Joe Jones, Robert Arnold and Reginald Preston. Despite the unfortunate passing of “The Legendary Joe Pope”, The Tams have continued to be as popular as ever. Forty two years after the group’s formation, Charles and Li’l Redd continue to lead The Tams toward success. Fans clamor to see Charles Pope – Living Legend, and Li’l Redd – Fastest Feet in the South! And with a new generation of “Little Tams” coming along, Charles puts it best when he says “The Tams will NEVER die” !!

The Travis Allison Band is a five piece band based in Charleston, SC with a diverse lineup featuring piano, acoustic and electric guitars, saxophone, B-3 organ, bass, drums and vocal harmonies. The broad musical variety allows the band to ensure something for everyone.

Have you seen Whild Peach? Chances are you have. In the past several years they’ve performed all over the world with Platinum selling, Grammy award winning hip-hop super stars Outkast. If you missed them on the Stankonia tour then maybe you caught them on: Saturday Night Live; HBO’s Chris Rock Show; The Grammy Awards; The American Music Awards; The David Letterman Show; BET’s 106 And Park; HBO’s Reverb; MTV’s TRL; The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno; Good Morning America; The Dave Chappell Show; The ESPY Awards; & The MTV Video Music Awards.
Imagine a rock superstar mothered by Nina Simone And Fathered by George Clinton, a musical Frankenstein love child with the left arm of Jimi Hendrix, the right arm of Bootsy Collins, and the soul of James Brown. With the vocal chords of Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin, you get a lanky, multi-instrumentalist who raids the wardrobe of Sly and has the cool of ten Princes. If you can fathom such a creature, I present to you Whild Peach and their brand of “Slunky” music.
While the rappers tend to get all the credit, Hip-Hop music – particularly the southern kind, which relies heavily on live instrumentation – doesn’t get made without the work of musicians like the ones that make up Whild Peach. They’ve spent the last ten years working on projects with Goodie Mob/Joi/Cool Breeze/Lil’ Will/ Khujo Goodie/Sleepy Brown/The Ali Movie Soundtrack/The Scooby-Doo Soundtrack and most notable among these efforts is their collaboration with Outkast. Beginning on Outkast’s second album and continuing on to their newest record, Speaker Boxx/The Love Below (which includes two songs co-written by the band), Outkast and Whild Peach formed a relationship that included co-writing, lending a hand on vocals and instrumentation and eventually manifested itself as Whild Peach becoming the backup band on thegroups tours.
But Whild Peach is more than just a backup band. In addition to their work on Outkast’s tour dates and their hectic studio calendar, the band has started a busy touring schedule of their own playing over 100 dates in the last year at colleges, nightclubs, concert venues and festivals all over the United States. They’ve opened for Common, Erica Badu, Goodie Mob, Ohio Players, War, Fishbone and Chingy. This soul-Rock, Slam-Down group’s tight ensemble includes guitarist/vocalist David Whild, funktress/lead vocalist Peach, drummer Tuesday Henderson, bassist/vocalist Blue Gomes and guitarist Matt Hollums. Do yourself a favor, make plans to see Whild Peach!
